Browlift

As we age the brow tends to drop, covering the youthful glow of the eyes. Lines in the forehead also begin, casting shadows instead of the smoothness of youth. These effects of aging are inevitable, and, often, the brow and forehead area show the first signs. With sun damage, environmental and genetic effects, the skin begins to lose its elasticity. And deep furrows, frown lines, wrinkling across the forehead, and an increasing heaviness of the eyebrows begin to form and progress.

A forehead or brow lift involves the removal of excess skin and wrinkling from sagging brows. In certain circumstances, some of the underlying muscle that creates frown lines is also removed. There are multiple incision location options, depending on the patient. In recent years endoscopic brow lift techniques have been refined in such a way that even balding gentlemen can undergo the procedure with little or no scarring or visible signs of surgery. This is done through a series of small incisions within the hairline. Endoscopes are then employed with a specific regimen of endoscopic tools to loosen the brow from it lowered attachments and reset the brow in a higher and more youthful position. Occasionally, other brow lift techniques such as a coronal brow lift (an incision extending from ear to ear within, or at, the hairline) are performed, especially on patients with a long forehead or high hairline. The effects are the same, but the surgery may take slightly longer, and the patient may incur some loss of sensation behind the incision.
